…sighed for the fourth time this afternoon. I shook my head in resignation as the fledgling hero pranced through Elywyn Forest in his ill fitting gear.

I turned away, content that his warrior aggressions were not directed toward me and resumed prying open a very important clam. “Nothing beats fresh clams”, I thought, as I heard the satisfying pop of the shell between my slimy, green scaled hands.

Just as I was about to devour my freshly claimed prize a blunt sword dashed the shell from my hands and sent my snack spinning away onto the banks of the lake where those stupid wolves are always shitting.

“Damn it…”, I muttered under my breath.

“Look”,  I said to the warrior as he brandished his weapon for another strike, “you see that hut over there? I’m about to call over fifty other murlocs to rape you if you hit me with that sword.”

The warrior’s eyes went wide with fright and fury as he heard, “MURGGLRG-LRGLRGLRGLRGRR!!” and he swatted me across the side of my fishy head with the flat of  his blade.

Being no inexperienced warrior in my own right I should have expected no less from the dimwitted warrior, but my optimistic personality often gets the better of me.

I quickly leaped up and disarmed the warrior with little more than a show of snaggle-teeth and a swipe of a claw and then called over a few of my friends for a “Murloc-Pile-on-the-Human”.

We shared a few minutes of gurgling laughs at the warrior’s expense before rolling off the pile and my friends started shuffling off. I stood over the warrior chuckling as he shamefacedly arose from the shallow water, moustaches and goatee dripping muddy water looking not quite unlike a drowned gnoll.

As much as I regret to do it, I am leaving the only guild I have ever played with, Operatives (Detheroc Server). After almost 3 years of playing regularly with the same people, I feel that the remaining officers have lost heart with the constant building and rebuilding of new groups of people. I know, from past officer experience, that taking a role of authority often feels more like a job than playing and being a babysitter for 100-odd people is no easy task.

My guild had progressed as far as Fathom Lord Kalthresh in Serpent Shrine Cavern right before Christmas, but losing some key members was the final straw that stripped our guild down to the very foundation. The moral was just too low to keep it all together and some guild officer mismanagement meant unhappy people who could raid nothing.

 My apologies to the new members who joined thinking that they were hopping onto a thriving community, but mostly tired people were left and the urge to continue was low.

So, although my /gquit was difficult to do, I am looking for a new home for my toons. My brother had been in a guild that he enjoyed and I have requested that I be allowed to join as a friend. We’ll see if the officer I spoke to keeps his word and allows me to tag along. I am sure that I will have some more to post on this in the near future. Until then…

Once you have a full set of epic armor, one more does not seem so important. But when you only have once on your toon, the amount of difference it makes to your class role really bumps up in leaps and bounds!

I got my breastplate the other day and socketed it to my heart’s content. A very nice upgrade. Then, late last week, the random dice gods allowed Heroic Ramparts to be the daily Heroic Dungeon for two days. On my second run I managed to nab the epic off-hand dagger from Nazan, Feltooth Eviscerator!

I was thinking of getting +20 strength to this off-hand and then getting either Executioner or Mongoose on my main hand weapon (when i find one!).

It was a really nice upgrade and I was so happy when I had no one to roll against to win it! Piece by piece I am working Doom into an mildly-stoppable force. Not to mention I scored 10 badges from clearing the dungeon twice! I am saving up for either an epic helm or an epic legs. If i need to get something for my Defense set, the warrior shield is a really ncie upgrade from the rare one that I currently own.

All said and done, I am enjoying playing my toon.

For two months I’ve had a distant and dreamy glow in my eyes and the dream became a reality last night. I finally crafted my first epic piece of Fury/Arms gear for my level 70 warrior, Doominator.

Now, some out there might be saying, “Pffft! My murloc has better armor than that..” and I might have to smile stupidly and punch them with a straight-shot to the spine. “Where’s your murloc now, little gnome?”

This was a pretty big upgrade for the ole Doom’ster coming from Durotan’s Battle Harness, which was not a shabby piece of Rare armor at all.

As I am currently Fury specced, the +20 hit should make a bit of a difference as well as +14 crit, even without the few extra points from the gem bonus. Now I will actually spend some money and purchase a few real nice gems to fill the slots. I was thinking of popping in straight +9 strength gems, as that also equals +18 AP for warriors).  Does anyone have some suggestions for other gems or enchants?

I was thinking of doing some PVP or arena to obtain some nice weapons to really help boost my overall attack power, because right now it is rather dismal. I think I am floating around 1300, unbuffed, and that is completely unacceptable. All in due time…

Also, this breastplate, if I choose to lose my gems, is upgradeable to new higher versions. The third is, by far, one of the best breastplates in the game, but it will cost me considerably in materials and time. I do not even know if people sell Nether Vortexes on our server, as they are only available from mobs in SSC.

“…so little time.”

I love my alt characters. What i love more is that my younger brother has his own account and an Epic geared, level 70 mage that I can borrow from time to time to run my own toons through various instances.

Most fairly new computers have enough power to run at least two instances of WOW at a time. I have a Dell XPS from 2003 (generation 2) and only get a slight bit of lag running both. So, I play in windowed mode and run two screens of WOW. I have made some brief macros that allow me to follow along with one button and off we go to the races!

Last night was my warlock’s turn. Full rested XP, he got one Deadmines run and two stockades runs. I bumped him from level 16 to 18 (almost 19!) in a small chunk of time.

Then, I decided to run my rogue through the Stockades a few times and got some other players to pay me to bring their low level toons, too! So i racked up some free gold and bonus group XP for some 15 minute runs; not too shabby!

So now, here is my list of toons, all slowly gaining experience. One day i will have 9 max level players. Perhaps I will make a Brady Bunch framed image of all nine. My little WOW family.

P.S. There is no gnome-love in this family. I have had two gnome characters, both of which i deleted because I find their small size very difficult to play. I want to be able to SEE my character on the screen.

 Blacksmithing or  Leatherworking for a shaman?

Hmmm. This one is a bit difficult. I had started Dalansia with the full intention of having her be a master axesmith at level 70. I figured, high DPS weapons would sure be a benefit at 70 and save a lot of needless grinding. But….

Leatherworking on the other hand can provide me almost a whole suit of epic armor! I can’t fight the fact that as an alt, Dalansia will not have as many opportunities to run lower non-heroic dungeons. With leatherworking, I can take my time, create my own set of armor, and hope for a nice weapon to drop for me to fawn over and then smash somebody’s face.

Needless to say, after weighing the pros and cons, I dropped my 140 blacksmithing and mining skills and switched over to leatherworking.  I had to sell a TON of ore and low level gems to clear my bank to make way for stacks of leather!

I got berated by my brother this morning for breaking the cardinal rule of leveling last night with Dalansia. I have been powerleveling her through Scarlet Monastary for the last couple of weeks and she has been gaining levels in leaps and bounds. Needless to say, I also have acquired every piece of armor I can possibly use from the various bosses in the four wings of the dungeon.

But I digress; I equipped a level 32 rare staff to replace my level 25 mace and found myself ineffectually clubbing raptors in the Arathi Highlands for 40 minutes last night. My skill level with a staff? Five (numero cinco).

In the midst of my leveling (die spiders!) a level 33 horde mage walks up behind me and starts casting pyroblast (oh joy!). So, I earth shock him and run up to start ineffectually wacking him with my staff. -_- DOH! Needless to say I was pwned horribly, not once, but twice when I popped my cooldown and attacked his back furiously while he dodged or I missed every single hit.

As we parted ways, he left me with a “kek!” and ate my body. Next time, i’ll level in Westfall before I haul my ass off to Arathi!
